Kinetic Series
The Kinetic series is a very broad association of pieces that have a moving component. This includes tops, dreidels, music boxes, and automatons.
Motion makes a strong impact on our awareness. We are hardwired to notice motion. In a busy static image, no matter how chaotic, if one item starts moving our brain immediately picks out the motion amidst the chaos. This makes a moving object a very compelling image.
Plus, as an engineering geek, I’m fascinated by the physics!
